Thwarted in two postseason endeavors in the Twin Cities, perennial batting champion Rod Carew brought his act to Anaheim, where his bat remained potent but two more October bids fell short. The offered California Angels cap was worn and signed by the Panamanian-born hitting guru during his tenure (1979-1985) in Southern California. The blue wool accessory features the club's "A" logo and gold-colored halo embroidered to the front center. Carew's black marker signature ("4-5") is somewhat faded in its latter stages, but remains legible on the red bill. The plastic-lined sweatband lines the perimeter of the six-point suspension's interior and is home to a faded "New Era" label, an MLB silhouette logo tag and a size "7-1/4" tag. Outstanding game use is evident in the form of perspiration-induced color bleeding. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentications.
