Same name, new franchise, new stadium. Such was scene at the Major League level in the Nation's Capital throughout the 1960s. At the newly erected D.C. Stadium (1961), the offered jacket was worn by an attendant who welcomed fans. This red canvas-like zippered garment features (2) lapel pockets, above which, "The Senators" and "GATEMAN 43" are embroidered in cream-colored lettering. Within the 3"-wide collar, a "Unitog" size "48" label is accompanied by a fabric content flap tag and a hanging-loop. Beneath the flap that houses the said tagging, a zipper path is present to facilitate the insertion of a hood. This unique and vintage American League stadium artifact comes from the collection of renowned Baltimore/Washington collector Steve Terman.
